Challenge

The Evolution of a Maker’s Collective

For Pooja, this store represents the dawn of NIMAI 2.0. It marks a powerful return to the retail floor, demanding a space that mirrors her renewed energy and take charge approach. The design process was an intensive journey through various aesthetics, from Japanese Minimalism to Italian Avant Garde. The ultimate goal was to create a space that was not only dramatic but highly functional, maximizing every inch of the 150 sq. ft. footprint in one of the country’s most premium real estate locations.

Design
Strategy

To accommodate the diverse array of designers within this collective, our approach remained conscious of balance and clarity.

  • Materiality & Texture: We established a simple base palette, punctuated by a bold pop of the signature Nimai Red in the skirting, the entrance door, and visual merchandising elements. We relied on a subtle play between tonal laminates, walls, and floors, using texture rather than color to differentiate surfaces.
  • Architectural Language: The design utilizes clean, simple lines to create a sense of continuity that flows seamlessly from one wall to the next, expanding the visual perception of the compact space.
  • The Warm Glow: As lighting designers, we knew the play of light would provide the final oomph factor. We prioritized high-contrast illumination, ensuring the products are brilliantly lit while the surroundings remain relatively darker to draw the eye exactly where it needs to be.
